Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Electrical Superintendent for its Clarendon oriented strand board (OSB) facility in Alcolu, South Carolina. This role will lead the plant electrical and instrumentation maintenance function, supervise electrical and support personnel, and help drive safe, reliable, and efficient operations in one of Georgia-Pacific's newer OSB manufacturing facilities.

Our Team

The Alcolu site uses advanced manufacturing technology to produce Blue Ribbon Oriented Strand Board, a structural panel product used for wall, roof, and floor sheathing in residential and light commercial construction. Georgia-Pacific has also invested significantly in the Clarendon OSB operation, including a major project to add a third strander and increase annual OSB output by approximately 150 million square feet.

The successful candidate will apply Georgia-Pacific and Koch's Principle Based Management philosophy, foster teamwork, develop talent, and deliver results across safety, reliability, quality, cost, productivity, and customer service.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for planning, directing, and guiding the business goals, plans, and processes for the electrical and Instrumentation maintenance department
  • Use knowledge to develop and carry out objectives, solve problems, and be able to respond to short-term as well as long term department mill goals
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Electrical department to ensure the team is meeting the objectives in safety, reliability, quality, cost, and customer service
  • Lead and support preventative maintenance programs and provide technical support for troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maximize process efficiencies
  • Help employees understand who their customers are and how their work impacts spending, reliability, and mill profitability
  • Provide leadership through the application of Koch's Principle Based Management (PBM) philosophy to achieve superior results
  • Support compliance with company, safety, environmental, and governmental policies and regulations.
  • Promote and apply electrical safe work practices, including Lock-Tag-Verify, arc flash requirements, and NFPA 70E expectations.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Three (3) years supervisory experience in a heavy industrial/electrical maintenance setting.
  • Experience with 480V three-phase motor controls and industrial motor control systems; experience with 4160V systems is a plus.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting plant electrical distribution systems
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft office programs, with the ability to learn PC-based production, maintenance, and administrative applications
  • Working knowledge of HMI systems and industrial process controls
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms, and VFDs (Power Flex Series)
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, including flow, pressure, temperature, and related field devices.
  • Knowledge of electrical safe work practices, including NFPA 70E
  • Strong troubleshooting ability and electrical fundamentals.
  • Ability to use and understand electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings and schematics

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Electrical Engineering degree and/or Five (5) or more years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial/electrical maintenance setting
  • Strong understanding of:
  • PLC ladder logic, programming methods, and process-related controls, including Allen Bradley MicroLogix, RS Logix 500, ControlLogix/Studio 5000.
  • Industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet, Ethernet/IP, Device Net, Control Net, Modbus, IO-Link, etc.
  • Process network infrastructure such as switches, fiber, copper networks, and process network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms such as FactoryTalk and Wonderware
  • Experience with servo motion control and hydraulic proportional valve control.
  • Proven ability to diagnose complex electrical problems, identify root causes, plan repairs, organize work, and follow through to completion.
  • Proven track record of managing electrical projects, including budget responsibility
