Job Title: Lead Electrical Superintendent / MEP Specialist
Job Description
The Lead Electrical Superintendent / MEP Specialist oversees electrical and MEP construction activities for large data center projects across multiple locations. This role focuses on electrical systems such as switchgear, UPS systems, power distribution, and supporting MEP infrastructure, while leveraging strong computer skills and construction management tools to drive schedule, safety, quality, and coordination. The position requires frequent travel between project sites and close collaboration with project managers, site engineers, subcontractors, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Fully understand the overall project scope, schedule, and key milestones for each assigned data center project.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the project schedule daily using tools such as Touchplan.
- Collaborate with the Project Scheduler and Project Manager to develop and manage progress schedules, including detailed two-week look-ahead schedules.
- Prepare, maintain, and distribute accurate daily logs and reports using Procore.
- Assist in coordinating and scheduling all required inspections with relevant parties and authorities.
- Prepare clear agendas for regular construction and coordination meetings and participate actively in those meetings.
- Enforce site safety policies and procedures, including security and visitor access control on the project site.
- Monitor and enforce the quality and workmanship of all finished electrical and MEP installations.
- Develop and maintain an effective Site Utilization Plan to optimize material laydown, equipment placement, and site logistics.
- Maintain organized phone logs and communication records related to project activities.
- Prepare and manage pre-punch list items to support a smooth project closeout and commissioning process.
- Work closely with the Project Site Engineer to ensure all relevant project documentation, drawings, and information are properly loaded and maintained in Procore.
- Provide site safety training and regular safety talks to field personnel and enforce safety compliance throughout the project.
- Conduct weekly tool box talks (tool talks) to reinforce safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
- Secure and manage any required hot work permits and ensure compliance with associated safety requirements.
- Lead and coordinate field teams, subcontractors, and vendors involved in electrical and MEP construction activities.
- Support commissioning efforts for data center systems, including electrical, UPS, and related MEP equipment.
- Troubleshoot issues in the field related to electrical construction, power distribution, and MEP systems as they arise.
- Review and interpret blueprints, schedules, and construction documents to guide field execution.
- Collaborate with project management on commercial construction requirements, subcontractor management, and issue resolution.
Essential Skills
- 7-10 years of experience in construction, with a strong focus on electrical or MEP work.
- Experience in electrical construction or an electrical field (preferred).
- Experience working as a site supervisor, superintendent, or in a construction management role.
- Proficient computer skills, including the ability to work effectively with construction management software and scheduling tools.
- Ability to read, interpret, and manage construction schedules.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead teams in a commercial construction environment.
- Experience with data centers or mission-critical facilities (required in skill details and highly preferred overall).
- Strong safety attitude and familiarity with OSHA-related safety practices.
- Experience with electrical systems such as switchgear, power distribution, UPS systems, and substations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Experience in construction supervision and subcontractor management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with data center projects, including CRAH units, HVAC, and broader MEP systems.
- Experience with MEP engineering and mechanical systems within a commercial construction setting.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes for data center electrical and MEP systems.
- Experience using Procore for project documentation, daily logs, and coordination.
- Experience with project management and troubleshooting in commercial construction environments.
- Familiarity with Touchplan or similar scheduling and planning tools.
- OSHA-related knowledge and safety training experience.
- Willingness to travel between multiple project sites as needed.
- Data center experience is beneficial even if not strictly required.
- Strong organizational skills for documentation, logs, and site planning.
Work Environment
This is a site-based role supporting large data center construction projects across multiple locations, including Northern Virginia, Dallas (TX), Atlanta (GA), Chicago (IL), Mississippi, and Las Vegas (NV). The position requires regular travel between project sites, with travel expenses, hotels, and related costs provided. Work takes place in an active commercial construction environment, overseeing electrical and MEP installations, inspections, and commissioning activities. You will use tools such as Procore for documentation and Touchplan or similar platforms for scheduling and planning. The role is offered as a long-term contract (year+), with eligibility for benefits including 401(k), paid time off, medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid holidays, and a cell phone reimbursement. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $145000.00/hr.
