    Position Summary:

    The Electrical Supervisor is responsible for the electrical, controls and instrumentation program for the plant. This includes managing direct reports and prioritizing jobs utilizing the maintenance PM program. The Electrical Supervisor is involved in day-to-day operations support and will play a key role in improving current processes, developing and leading capital projects, supporting and representing plant needs for capital reviews, participating in plant meetings as needed, and developing training programs for plant personnel.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    The following duties are typical for this position. Incumbents may not perform all of these listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties as required to meet changing plant or business needs.

    • Diagnose, install, and repair electronic and or electro-mechanical equipment including analog, digital, and discrete components.
    • Perform preventative maintenance, calibration and repair of temperature, flow, pressure, weight, level, and analytical instrumentation.
    • Maintain calibration, configuration control, preventative maintenance, and system integrity records required by internal and external directives.
    • Perform continuing analysis of instrumentation, automation and controls systems, and work with other departments to recognize opportunities to adapt new technologies, practices or standards that would improve the plants operational effectiveness, efficiency, reliability, and safe operation
    • Ensure safe reliable and proper operation of process instrumentation, automation, and control systems.
    • Perform design development, programming, maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC systems.
    • Perform Human Machine Interface (HMI) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) design, development, programming, and installation.
    • Perform design, installation and maintenance of industrial communication networks and field buses associated with the process instrumentation, automation, and control systems.
    • Perform specification, programming, and installation of AC/DC variable speed drives, automation controllers, and other equipment.
    • Perform routine maintenance, inspection, adjustment, and repair of burner control systems.
    • Participate in safety risk evaluation and specification, design, and installation of safety instrumented systems on industrial machinery.
    • Design and layout of electrical control panels and associated equipment to comply with UL508A standards.
    • Design and update data acquisition systems.

    Qualifications/Required Skills

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering from four-year college/university preferred or Journeyman's License and 5-10 years of relevant manufacturing experience.

    Knowledge of:

    • Technical operation and maintenance of modern electronic instrumentation, automation, and control equipment.
    • Principles and practices of instrumentation calibration and documentation procedures.
    • PLC, HMI, SCADA and Data Acquisition software programming development and validation standards and practices; preferably with Rockwell Automation products, RS Logix 500,5000, Studio 5000, RS Linx, Factory Talk View and other Rockwell packages.
    • Knowledge and experience applying and interpreting results from measurement calibration and test equipment used in maintenance, calibration, inspection and operation of process instrumentation, automation, and control systems.
    • Electrical installation practices and standards, NFPA 72 (National Electrical Code) NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace) NFPA 79 (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery)
    • Safety standards for industrial machinery ISO 13849-1 & 2
    • Knowledge in trouble-shooting electrical distribution systems, AC/DC motors, transformers, and relay control systems.
    • Mechanical piping system installation practices and standards.
    • Drafting and CAD operation and procedures. Ability to read, interpret, modify and develop electrical schematics, blueprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) control loop and other drawings.
    • Office procedures, methods and equipment including computer fluency in word, excel, outlook and file management.

    Language Skills:

    • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, telephone skills, and use appropriate grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

    Math Skills:

    • This position requires quantitative skills and knowledge of math functions such as percentages and decimals.

    Computer Skills:

    • Essential computer skills using Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and E-mail.

    Reasoning Ability:

    • This position requires a high degree of self-confidence and maturity to make decisions required in day-to-day activities. Must be able to solve problems with minimal direction, be detailed oriented and have strong organizational skills. A team player who is flexible, and accepts changing assignments and accountabilities. Should display excellent interpersonal skills.

    Work Environment

    • This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities such as heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) standing on concrete floors for extended periods of time, moving parts and loud noise. Utilizes confined space permits. Must be able to work with sanitizers and cleaning chemicals, as well as with water soluble and oil-based lubricants. Works on ladders, scaffolds, and forklift cages and in pits using proper safety precautions. Wears personal protective equipment as needed for assigned tasks. Must be able to work various shifts as assigned by Supervisor.
