Electrical Technician – HVACLocation: Davenport, Iowa (Onsite)

The Electrical Technician – HVAC will provide technical support, troubleshooting, and leadership for HVAC and electrical systems within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on maintaining operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, and supporting both planned and unplanned maintenance activities across production systems.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical and tactical support for equipment breakdowns and outages in production centers
- Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC systems including chillers, compressors, and air conditioning units
- Support specialized systems such as:
- Direct Fire Melt Furnaces
- Allen Bradley PLCs
- RS Logix systems
- AC/DC drives
- Assist engineering teams with commissioning, testing, and upgrades of equipment
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance procedures
- Train and mentor technicians and supervisors to improve technical capabilities
- Manage HVAC spare parts inventory and vendor coordination
- Ensure compliance with EPA Section 608 refrigerant regulations
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Create and manage maintenance schedules and material planning
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and EHS policies
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED (mandatory)
- Minimum 5+ years of HVAC experience in industrial/manufacturing environments
- Hands-on experience with:
- Scroll, screw, and centrifugal compressors
- Air conditioning systems (up to 25 tons)
- Water-cooled chillers (up to 200 tons)
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (Section 608)
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience with:
- Brazing copper/brass
- Manifold gauges
- Vacuum systems and refrigerant charging
- Superheat and subcooling calculations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills- HVAC apprenticeship or Mechanical degree
- Experience with large systems (100+ ton AC / 500+ ton chillers)
- Knowledge of HVAC control systems:
- Johnson Controls Metasys
- Liebert Systems
- Trane Tracer Summit
- Understanding of process control and instrumentation
- Ability to read electrical & mechanical schematics
- Cooling load calculation experience
- Prior team leadership or mentoring experience
Work Conditions- Primarily Monday–Friday schedule
- Flexibility required for off-shift support based on business needs
- Onsite role in a manufacturing plant environment
