Position Summary
Electrical Technology Assistant
Salary Schedule: Commensurate with education and experience according to E4 Schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to adhering to the general guidelines as specified by the Faculty/Staff Handbook, the Department Chairperson, the Dean of Instruction, the President, and the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, responsibilities will include the following:
Teach effectively in the Electrical field.
Obtain and maintain state-of-the-science knowledge in both areas of technical expertise and in teaching methodology.
Maintain the Electrical instructional program and resources at a high level of quality and efficiency by continuously upgrading course materials and by recommending additional instructional equipment and materials.
Select and present to the Dean of Instruction at least three (3) members of an Advisory Committee. The committee should be selected or reconfirmed prior to September 1 of each year.
Minutes of at least one meeting with members of the Advisory Committee must be filed with the Dean of Instruction each year.
Work closely with the Advisory Committee to keep a close relationship with the business and industrial community.
Serve on faculty committees to develop and improve the instructional program.
Maintain accurate program related records concerning student attendance, instructional objectives, learning outcomes, and submit those reports required for the operation of an effective training institute.
Be responsible during the official school day for his/her department and those students assigned to that department.
Attend all scheduled faculty meetings and special programs presented by the college.
Become familiar with and adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations contained in the Faculty/Staff Handbook.
Acquire instructor textbooks, training manuals, and any other materials necessary for instruction of your Discipline.
Participate in articulation and student recruiting efforts with public and private schools in the college's service area.
Participate in the college's annual academic and technical competitions.
Present an annual budget request for instructional equipment and supplies to the Dean of Instruction.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Department Chairperson, the Dean of Technical and Workforce Development, the Dean of Instruction, or the President.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Up to 10 days a year of professional development leave with pay may be granted by the President.

Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. All regular full-time and part-time employees (non-temporary and non- student) who work at least 20 hours per week are required to participate in The Teachers Retirement System of Alabama.

PEEHIP, established in 1983, provides health insurance benefits for active and retired education employees and is governed by the PEEHIP Board of Control. Tobacco Usage Premium
The tobacco premium applies only to the PEEHIP Hospital Medical and VIVA Health plans. Refer to the Wellness Program section to learn how you and/or your spouse can receive the non-tobacco user discount.
Wellness Premium
The wellness premium applies only to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Hospital Medical Group #14000 plan for non-Medicare eligible active and retired members, non-Medicare-eligible members on LOA or COBRA, and non-Medicare-eligible spouses on active or retired contracts. Refer to the Wellness Program section to learn how you and/or your spouse can receive a wellness premium waiver.
If desired, the employee may elect four options rather than health insurance options to include hospital indemnity, cancer, dental, and vision.

Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
