Overview:

The Test Engineer is responsible for supporting and executing product testing activities to ensure the quality, performance, and compliance of telecommunications products.  This role applies sound engineering principles and hands‑on testing experience to validate new and existing products in laboratory and manufacturing environments.  The position requires strong technical, analytical, and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, manufacturing, and management teams in support of product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Support or lead the development and execution of testing activities for copper and fiber data communication systems
  • Evaluate product functionality, performance, robustness, reliability, usability, and regulatory compliance
  • Develop and maintain custom software for controlling test equipment, analysis, and modeling
  • Support new product development projects by providing feedback and improvement recommendations
  • Perform long‑term testing, evaluations, and special projects as assigned
  • Support or lead product analysis and technical review meetings, demonstrating product quality
  • Support the development of internal ISO quality control procedures
  • Support the development of manufacturing test procedures and assist in troubleshooting manufacturing test issues
  • Support department leadership and other business needs as required

 

Qualifications:
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Functional knowledge of electronic test equipment used in the development or application benchmarking of fiber and copper data communications cables and cabling systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, circuit diagrams, schematics, and specifications
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to see tasks through to completion
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with coworkers, along with internal and external customers and key stakeholders
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with key stakeholders
  • Basic familiarity of MATLAB and .NET programming languages a plus
  • Background in data communication theory and signal processing is a plus

 

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering testing required
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, laboratory, or technical environment is a plus
  • Experience with Ethernet network communication systems physical layer and protocols a plus
