JOB SUMMARY Maintains electrical systems in airport buildings, facilities, and runways by performing skilled work at journeyman level by installing, maintaining, repairing, inspecting, and troubleshooting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Maintains airfield lighting system in compliance with current FAA Advisory Circulars by testing and performing repairs on the system. Ensures a safe and operational airfield by maintaining, repairing, and inspecting the rotating beacon, emergency generators, solid state voltage regulator, sump pumps, obstruction lights, high voltage transformers and cables up to 6000 volts. Ensures electrical systems in airport buildings and parking deck are safe and operational by maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, installing, and inspecting electrical circuits, repairing control circuits on chillers and boilers, electric motors, security electric gates, streetlights and signs and high-pressure sodium fixtures. Performs other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION(s) & EXPERIENCE Valid Alabama driver's license. High school graduate or bona fide GED certificate. Jefferson County and City of Birmingham Electrician Journeyman Certificates. Three (3) years experience as a journeyman electrician.
