GENERAL SUMMARY/BASIC PURPOSE OF JOB:
Performs the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems for the Hospital complex. Incumbent is subject to overtime and callback as required by the hospital.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Coordinates and performs electrical equipment maintenance, installations and modifications according to applicable codes and regulations.
Repairs, tests and verifies loads on new and existing electrical lines, circuits, system and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
Troubleshoots and analyzes electrical problems, records deficiencies and reports action taken or required.
Maintains operational knowledge of electrical systems within the facility and the content of engineering drawings.
Reads and interprets construction blueprints, schematics and follow instructions for assembling and installing wiring, coupling, conduit, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices.
Responds to and completes work orders in a proper and timely fashion.
Communicates effectively regarding progress on or completion of jobs to impacted department(s) and supervisor.
Keeps all work areas clean and neat during and after completion of jobs.
Observes and adheres to all safety regulations and practices.
Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.
Is in compliance with Mount Sinai Hospital Attendance Standards.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certificate from an approved electrical apprenticeship program or trade school required.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Three years of experience as a fully qualified electrician.
Experience with multi-phase systems of low and high voltage.
Previous experience in a hospital preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
Must possess understanding and knowledge of The Joint Commission Environment of Care standards, Illinois Dept. of Public Health building code requirements, and other applicable federal, state and local building code requirements for a hospital.
Work requires operation or use of the following tools/equipment: standard hand or electrically operated tools, construction equipment and other portable tools.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Active City of Chicago Supervising Electrician license.
Valid Driver's license.
