Position Overview The Department of Facilities and Administrative Services is a large operational service organization that provides a broad array of services to the campus community through the following areas Access Control Services Automotive Services Building Services Energy and Central Utilities Facilities Operations Grounds and Landscape Maintenance Services Mailing and Receiving Services Occupational Safety and Environmental Services and Risk Management Services. This position resides within the Electric Shop of the Office of Facilities Operations. Responsibilities Reporting to the Supervisor of the Electric Shop the Electrician performs skilled electrical work in the installation repair adjustment and maintenance of campus electrical systems and equipment. This position ensures that electrical systems are safe reliable and compliant with applicable codes and standards while supporting the Colleges mission of providing a well-maintained learning and working environment. Qualifications · Works from electrical sketches schematics plans and specifications in accordance with the electrical code or approved trade practices and established procedures. · Ability to analyze the problems involved in the maintenance and repair of electrical circuits systems and equipment including 480 volts and lower voltages and have the ability to effectively communicate with supervisor colleagues and clients. · Demonstrated broad experience in commercialindustrial environment as an electrician in work involving the installation inspection repair servicing and maintenance of electrical systems circuits and related equipment. · Must be able to walk distances in all weather conditions navigate stairs climb ladders utilize scaffolding or powered lifts kneel negotiate tight spaces and work in high spaces. · Must be capable of lifting tools materials and equipment commensurate within the functions of this position up to 70 pounds. · Must be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions year-round. · Must be able to endure limited lighting situations with extreme temperatures e. g. non-air-conditioned spaces when accessing attic spaces and roof access locations. · Must be able to work efficiently and effectively in a busy fast paced environment. · Must work in buildings that may not have elevators to move materials in and out of the facility and must rely on stairs to navigate through said buildings. Required · High School Diploma · Possession of a valid drivers license in good standing issued by state of residence is required. · Three 3 years of experience in work involving the installation inspection repair servicing and the maintenance of electrical equipment appliances machinery and circuits · Knowledgeable in preventive maintenance of all types of electrical circuits systems and equipment including 480 volts and lower voltages. · Ability to install repair andor maintain all types of electrical circuits systems and equipment including 480 volts and lower voltages. Preferred · Responds to calls for emergency assistance and overtime both emergency and scheduled pursuant to departmental protocol. · Carries departmental radio at all times to receive calls for services and to request assistance. · Ensures that all work areas and shop area are clean and clear of debris and equipment. Ensures that cleanup is completed prior to the end of the workday andor job assignment. · Complies with all college occupational health safety security and environmental regulations and procedures.
