Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of electrical vocational training.
  • Two (2) years of experience as an electrician.
  • Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Valid Florida driver'slicense.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
  • Four (4) years of experience as an electrician.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills.
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Install, alter, maintain, and repair various electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, and appliances.
  • Lay out work, estimate costs, and requisition materials for assigned work orders.
  • Diagnose/troubleshoot problems with electrical systems.
  • Operate equipment as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Upgrade electrical systems to meet the needs of new technology.
  • Compile with applicable safety regulations and procedures.
  • Utilize basic District computer applications for communication, training, and record keeping.
