    Job Description

    Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and layout the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity and proper and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems equipment, and controls. Installs, modifies, repairs, loads and tests secondary electrical distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltage, amperage, phase and frequency requirements.

    Determines, arranges, places and routes conduits, distribution panels, boxes, circuits, fittings, connections and circuit breakers. Maintains and repairs various electrical systems, including a variety of appliances, lights, electrical drives, alarm and security circuits, clocks, etc. May be required to repair or assist with various types of office equipment.

    Locates and diagnoses trouble in fire alarms, lighting, buzzers, clocks, thermostats, etc., which may involve the use of a variety of electrical test equipment. Working from electrical drawings and schematic diagrams, prepares labor and material cost estimates, and develops list of materials required for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems.

    May be required to perform air conditioning, carpentry, painting, and/or plumbing functions requiring a level of skill and responsibility characteristic of work at grade M-9 and below.

    May install, maintain, and repair electronic and electro-mechanical cash registers, peripheral equipment, 480-208V circuits in support of computer equipment, transformers and distribution panels, video and audio transmission cables and sound system equipment. Performs preventive maintenance, routine repairs and simple emergency repairs as required.

    May maintain/repair conveyor systems to include main switches, relays, stop and start stations and motor drive. Conducts periodic inspections and maintains the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) supporting computer equipment.

    As required, performs TDY travel of one or more days duration to other Exchange locations. May operate a motor vehicle to transport material and associates, when required. Ensures compliance with fire, safety, sanitation, and security regulations. Initiates work orders for repair and maintenance.

    Performs other duties as assigned.
