Position Summary

Assist journey and advanced journey level electricians with the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.

Essential and Supplemental Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essentialfunctions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation.

  • Assist with installing, removing or replacing poles, aerial lines, cross arms, insulators, conduit, alarm boxes and terminal boxes.
  • Maintain passenger loading bridges and baggage delivery systems.
  • Assist with the installation, adjustment and troubleshooting of photo-electric devices.
  • Assist higher level electricians with a wide range of electrical system maintenance tasks including maintenance of energy management systems, fire alarm systems, emergency generator systems, security and surveillance systems, automatic gates, closed circuit television and cable network systems.
  • Install, adjust and maintain belts, rollers, bearings, gear motors and related equipment on baggage delivery systems.
  • Perform less complex welding tasks including the welding of supports, guides and braces.
  • Maintain line clearances from interference from trees, buildings or other structures.
  • Perform a wide range manual labor in support of higher electricians including pulling cables in and out of ducts and conduit.
  • Install electrical outlets, switches, breakers, fuses, various overcurrent protection devices, light fixtures, lamps and ballast.
  • Assist electricians test cables for grounds and crosses.
  • Remove and repair airfield lights including runway, taxi-way and distance remaining lights and markers.
  • Assist with the installation of new boxes, phones, cables and appropriate systems.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures; maintain effective communications with communications tower.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours vocational training in electrical maintenance and repair; and

One (1) year of electrical maintenance experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Drivers License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Working Conditions

Environmental:

Indoor and outdoor environment; exposure to electrical and radiant energy, high voltage, noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, moving objects/vehicles, inclement weather conditions; work or inspect in confined spaces; work on slippery or uneven surfaces; work at heights on scaffolding and ladders; work in or with water; work with machinery.

Physical:

Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling for prolonged periods; heavy, moderate or light lifting and carrying; pulling, pushing, reaching above shoulder; operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
