Job Responsibilities

Performs maintenance and repair tasks in such areas as an Electrician and energy plant maintenance operation at McEntire Joint National Guard Base. Assists other trades with tasks. Makes emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in facilities. Conducts inspections to ensure proper operating, maintenance and safety procedures for routine jobs. Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes. Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Tests electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of systems. Knowledgeable on all electronic systems to include fire alarms, fence security, airfield lighting, electric locking systems, other lighting systems relating to the electronic trade throughout McEntire JNGB.Knowledge of safety practices is relevant to the area of employment. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in the designated trade. Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment. Ability to comprehend and understand / follow instructions, blueprints, plans and specifications. Ability to perform arithmetic and to communicate effectively.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and extensive trades experience directly related to the area of employment.

Additional Comments

Knowledge of facility /infrastructural electrical systems. Knowledge of safety practices. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Knowledge of electrical/lighting/alarm concepts and application skills. Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision. Knowledge of carpentry practices and building codes. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot or cold). The use of a scissor lift/ aerial bucket truck might be required for daily maintenance Lifting, climbing stairs/ladders, stooping and bending will be required. Ability to lift 70 lbs. and perform heavy labor. Some overnight travel/training may be required.Position involves on-call and call back / emergency on-call responsibility. Ability to work during inclement weather and emergency conditions.
