About the Job

General Summary of Position

Performs maintenance and general repairs on the Hospitals electrical systems, equipment, infrastructure, and electrical fixtures. Performs skilled work including inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and repairs on various low and medium voltage electrical systems, emergency power systems, and other equipment as assigned; works on thermostats, pumps, fans, and automatic controls. Assembles and installs equipment and fixtures as directed. Maintains accurate records and performs other related duties as required. Provides technical advice to Electrician I personnel. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospitals philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs electrical equipment and systems. • Reads meters and gauges or other recording devices to verify operating conditions and records the readings on approved forms. • Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and/or in designated areas. • Communicates with appropriate persons concerning identified deficiencies and safety problems. • Works with contractors to complete repairs as needed. • Diagnoses and replaces faulty equipment and components. • Interprets blueprints, diagrams, written instructions, schedules, or technical bulletins. • Completes required logs, records, and reports for each job assignment. • Interacts with staff, contractors, patients, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. • Works with clinical staff to make repairs and install systems upgrades with minimal patient care disruption. • Provides guidance and technical advice to Electrician I personnel. • Performs other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.

Minimal Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or GED required; general education degree (GED) preferred.

Experience

5-7 years of prior experience in commercial/industrial electrical maintenance field at the journeyman level required.

Licenses and Certifications

Trade School preferred and Journeyman Electrician - JOURELEC preferred or Masters Electrician - MELEC preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

National Electrical Code and OSHA safety standards.

Hiring Range

USD $46.12 - USD $46.12 /Hr.
