Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies.  We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems.  Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Responsibilities

 

FUNCTION OF POSITION

To support our efforts with the installation, maintenance, repairs, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of power generating/distribution equipment, rotating equipment, and DC power supplies. This is a critical role in our organization, and we are looking for a skilled professional to contribute to our success.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, commission, and maintain electrical equipment and systems in 20 and 150 MW DC power supplies.

2. Supports critical operations of Arc Jet testing and ensures DC power supplies are in readiness for Arc Jet operations.

 

3. Performs switching operations of medium voltage vacuum breakers and 115 kV air switches.

4. Performs maintenance, installation, repair, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical equipment, rotating equipment, and control/power systems in the Steam Vacuum system, Steam boiler plant, high-pressure water system, hydraulic system, high-pressure pneumatic system, and four Arc Jet facilities.

5. Respond to emergencies and perform repairs promptly to minimize downtime.

6. Follow electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.

7. Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate work activities and ensure the efficient operation of the Arc Jet facility.

8. Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, test reports, equipment status, and work performed.

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE

1. Journeyman Level with related education or work experience (typically 5 or more years) in industrial electrical systems. Possess practical knowledge of AC to DC rectification systems, electrical theory of series/parallel circuits, relay logic circuits, and PLC control systems.

2. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

3. Familiarity with basic electrical codes and knowledge of proper use of the NEC handbook.

4. Ability to read and properly interpret electrical blueprints, sketches, procedures, and technical manuals.

5. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from engineers and supervisors.

6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of accountability, attention to detail, and safety oriented.

7. Proficiency in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment such as Megger, Hi-pot, Multimeter, digital low resistance meter, and/or MCE tester.

8. Must be self-motivated and a "Team Player" with good interpersonal and communication skills.

9. Must be able to organize time and assignments to properly prioritize efforts for maximum effectiveness.

10. Familiarity with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) processes and programs is desired.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

 

  • Work from ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, cranes, suspended platforms or cages, etc.
  • Work while bending, standing, stooping, kneeling, or in a prone position for extended time periods.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, sometimes up and down stairways, where lifting devices and hoists are not available.
  • Push and pull heavy objects
  • Ability to use hearing and vision protection and respiratory equipment.
  • Ability to Work indoors and out in high and low temperatures and in all types of weather conditions.
  • Work in dusty, noisy, hot, high humidity, dirty, and greasy environment.
  • Work in confined spaces or in areas that require the use of a respirator.
  • Work in areas where there may be materials that are irritating to eyes, nose, throat, and skin while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Work with other personnel in a group that is Team Oriented.
  • Accept and work within established policies and procedures pertaining to company rules and regulations.
  • Work on and around high voltage equipment and systems.
  • Mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic hand tools. On The Job training as required. This includes the following:• Forklifts• Man-lifts such as JLG, scissor lifts, etc.• Office computer for reporting and time entries.• Other equipment along with any necessary NASA provided safety training will be authorized as needed.
