About the Responsibilities
The reporting location for this position is the Brawley Pumping Plant (Brawley PP). As a South Support Electrician, you will report to the Brawley Pumping Station and support several local-area Maintenance Responsibility Centers in a non-travel status approximately 90% of the time. This support area includes facilities ranging from Eloy in the north to locations south of Tucson.
The remaining 10% or more of your duties will involve pre-scheduled travel to various Maintenance Responsibility Centers across Arizona, which will require overnight stays.
You would perform as an electrical multi-craft support journeyman with local pumping plant operations responsibilities in a heavy industrial hydroelectric environment consisting of up to 60,000 horsepower vertical, synchronous pumping and generating units, and supporting auxiliary equipment such as: control valves (up to 132-inch), compressors, bridge cranes, governors, heat exchangers, strainers, trash rakes, radial gates, piping and hydraulic systems. You would perform preventative maintenance, project support, Project inspection, troubleshooting and repair on a wide variety of high, medium and low voltage electrical systems requiring proficiency in: rotating machinery, power circuit breakers, power transformers, protective relays, electronic control systems as well as various predictive test techniques and procedures. You would operate, configure, isolate, troubleshoot and return to service large pumping and generating plants or other related facilities and systems. After training and familiarity, you would perform switching operations and clearance orders to provide safe working boundaries or zones of equipment isolation from sources of hazardous energy.
As a support Electrician this position is subject to call-outs to a variety of operational emergencies on and off hours to support area Maintenance Responsibility Centers in and around the Tucson area. Work assignments are primarily at pumping plants and other system facilities throughout the state. Pre-determined in-state travel primarily Mondays through Thursdays is required.
About the Qualifications
Having completed a state or federal certified electrical apprenticeship: OR possessing the equivalent combination of education, related experience and demonstrated ability; PLUS, at least three (3) years of journeyman-level work experience in an industrial electrical environment with technical and specialized knowledge is required to be successful in this position. Also, a valid drivers license, good driving record, and a high school diploma (or GED) are required.

The large majority of this person's time will be supporting the South Plant teams reporting to Brawley Pumping Plant, up to 3 hours in total on shift driving may be required daily. Are you willing and able to spend this much time in a motor vehicle?

This position requires in-state travel Monday through Thursday for approximately 4 weeks a year (CAP provides for meals and accommodations while in travel status). Are you willing and available to be on overnight travel status Mondays through Thursdays on a basis?
