Summary:
Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in district facilities. This position is available at two levels - Journeyman Electrician (Maintenance Technician III) and Master Electrician (Maintenance Technician IV) - based on licensure and experience.

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. Must possess a valid Arkansas drivers license.
Candidates must hold one of the following:
Journeyman Electrician's License required.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, electrical codes, blueprints, schematics, and written reference material. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems involving several variables and in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be comfortable working at heights in excess of 10 feet. Must be able to use necessary equipment including: multi-meter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe bender and threader; hand and power tools (saw, drill, etc.); trencher; jackhammer; concrete saw; ladder.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, listen, and hear for extended periods. Frequent climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching is required. Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 90 pounds is expected. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around electrical power lines, outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures; frequent district-wide travel.
