Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Elgin, IL

A day in this role

You start your shift with a quick walk-through of the production floor, prioritizing preventive maintenance checks to keep lines running smoothly. When an unexpected fault light pops on, you move fast—isolating the issue, applying Lockout/Tagout, diagnosing mechanical or pneumatic causes, and restoring operation to minimize downtime. Between calls, you assist with a planned changeover, fine-tune a sensor during a line setup, and capture accurate notes in the maintenance log. Safety, GMP, and regulatory standards guide everything you do.

Key responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems (motors, sensors, switches)
  • Execute preventive maintenance on production machinery and facility systems
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to reduce downtime
  • Support equipment installs, changeovers, and production line setups
  • Maintain precise maintenance documentation and records
  • Comply with all safety, GMP, and regulatory requirements, including LOTO

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Proven mechanical troubleshooting ability
  • Basic electrical understanding (motors, sensors, switches)
  • Ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred

Work environment & physical demands

  • Manufacturing and warehouse environment
  • Frequent standing, bending, and kneeling; lift up to 50 lbs
  • PPE required
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required
