Compensation and schedule

  • Pay: 19–24 per hour + 2.50 shift differential; paid weekly
  • Sign-on bonus: 1,500
  • Shifts: Mon–Fri, 2nd (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) or 3rd (11:00 PM–7:30 AM)

A day in the life

When your shift begins, you will review outstanding work orders, prioritize safety-critical items, and move between mechanical and electrical tasks throughout the plant. Expect to:

  • Commit to safety first by following all policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Diagnose and repair industrial machinery and facility systems; execute preventive maintenance to reduce downtime
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults using hand tools and test gear
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain wiring, equipment, machinery, apparatus, and fixtures
  • Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and related components
  • Program and troubleshoot VFDs and PLCs
  • Perform rigging, balancing, alignment, and layout/drawing tasks as needed
  • Fabricate and install mechanical parts from cold rolled steel, stainless, plate, structural members, and other metals
  • Use welding and oxyacetylene torch techniques safely and effectively
  • Maintain electrical equipment to meet regulatory codes at the country, state, and federal levels
  • Deliver error-free work that supports internal and external customers and adhere to established safety and quality processes
  • Keep work areas clean and organized; work under direct supervision; perform other duties as assigned

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and basic critical thinking skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and assist with repairs/diagnostics on advanced processing equipment: CNC machinery, material handling systems, press brakes, lifting devices, and sawing equipment
  • Proficiency with laser alignment and vibration monitoring
  • Competence programming and troubleshooting VFDs and PLCs
  • Experience with mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Ability to test electrical systems and circuit continuity using ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes
  • Skilled with oxyacetylene torch work and welding; must maintain welding certification
  • Ability to operate forklifts, high lifts, and cranes; must maintain required equipment certifications
  • Comfort using hand tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinders, and banders
  • Ability to speak, write, and comprehend conversational English

Physical demands and environment

  • Stand and walk for long periods, including 2–5 miles per shift
  • Repeated bending, sitting, standing, twisting, and stooping
  • Lift and carry 25–50 lbs from floor to waist and front-carry 25–50 lbs repeatedly per shift
  • Reach overhead; squat, kneel; climb short ladders or steps
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • Maintain precise hand and finger coordination for fine manipulation
  • Read labels; follow safety and standard operating procedures; communicate effectively in an industrial environment
  • Vision of 20/30 with corrective lenses
  • Indoor/outdoor exposure to changing temperatures, loud noise, vibration
  • Hazards: moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high heat, chemicals
  • Atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mist, gas, or poor ventilation
  • Exposure to oils and other cutting fluids
