Step into a day on our membrane line
You clock in and review the production plan. After a quick EHS huddle, you suit up in PPE and prepare precise chemical mixes—acids, bases, and solvents—before bringing our brand-new electro‑separations membrane coating line up to speed. You watch quality readings, make fine adjustments to the coating process, log results in SAP and production forms, and keep materials moving. When something drifts out of spec, you diagnose root cause, correct it, and keep scrap to a minimum. Before shift end, you perform routine maintenance and package finished membranes on time for customers.
About Veolia Water Tech
Veolia is a global leader in environmental services with nearly 218,000 employees across five continents. Water Tech unites expert teams to solve critical challenges in water scarcity, quality, productivity, and energy—accelerating decarbonization, depollution, and resource regeneration for a more sustainable future.
What you’ll do
- Champion EHS: follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety rules and housekeeping; participate in EHS meetings, investigations, and audits; raise and resolve safety concerns proactively.
- Set up, operate, and clean membrane production and coating equipment.
- Handle and mix chemicals to defined formulas and procedures (regular use of strong acids, bases, and solvents); don extensive PPE for these tasks.
- Enter production data completely and accurately in databases, logs, forms, and SAP.
- Stage, move, and store raw materials and finished goods in the correct locations.
- Monitor raw material and final product quality; fine-tune coating parameters to meet membrane specifications.
- Troubleshoot process upsets; identify root causes and implement fixes to reduce scrap.
- Adhere to life‑critical procedures: Lock‑out/Tag‑Out (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and Line‑Break.
- Contain, label, store, and transfer hazardous waste per regulations.
- Support area cycle counts and inventory accuracy.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and calibration activities.
- Prepare and package membrane product for shipment.
- Assist with process changes and new product development trials.
- Handle other duties as assigned by a Supervisor, Facilitator, or Lead.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year as a machine operator, maintenance technician, chemical mixer/handler, or technical military role; OR 6+ months as a membrane operator.
- Ability to lift and handle up to 50 lbs.
Eligibility
- Comfort working with chemicals, including solvents and acids.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Willingness to perform preventive maintenance (e.g., change filters/strainers, cleaning).
- Commitment to PPE: safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, safety shoes, and at times a PAPR respirator and chemical‑resistant suit.
Preferred
- Associate’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, instrumentation, automated systems and robotics, electronics engineering technology, industrial controls and robotics, Right Skills Now for Manufacturing, chemistry, or a similar technical field.
- Knowledge of plumbing/fluid transfer fundamentals (valve orientation, air bleeding, isolation, etc.).
- Inventory control experience in SAP or similar systems.
- Troubleshooting experience with continuous web or paper handling processes.
- Shop math competency (percentages, chemical usage rates, yields, etc.).
- Exposure to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Strong attention to detail for safe, accurate chemical mixing.
- Understanding of web‑handling manufacturing.
- Fork truck operation training for manufacturing environments.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to learn policies, practices, and procedures.
- Hands‑on experience working with chemicals.
- Willingness to train and practice forklift operations, LOTO, and confined space work (HVAC HEPA filter changes).
