    Description

    Position Overview

The Senior Production Electro-Mechanical Assembler is responsible for performing advanced-level assembly, wiring, integration, and testing of complex electro-mechanical systems. This role requires expert knowledge of assembly methods, electrical principles, mechanical integration, and diagnostic testing. The senior assembler works with limited supervision, provides technical guidance to the team, supports engineering in prototype builds, and plays a key role in quality assurance, process improvement, and troubleshooting production issues.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform advanced assembly of complex electromechanical systems, including precision wiring, harness fabrication, PCB integration, mechanical build-ups, and system-level installations.
    • Interpret and work from complex engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, change orders, and technical documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
    • Conduct advanced functional testing and diagnostics using meters, oscilloscopes, test fixtures, and custom test equipment.
    • Troubleshoot system-level failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with engineering, quality, and production leadership on corrective actions.
    • Lead prototype and first article builds, providing detailed feedback to engineering on manufacturability, workflow improvements, and design enhancements.
    • Review and validate work instructions, BOMs, and assembly documentation; provide recommendations for updates or improvements.
    • Serve as a technical mentor to junior and mid-level assemblers, providing guidance on best practices, tool use, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives including lean manufacturing efforts, 5S, workflow optimization, and process standardization.
    • Assist in training efforts for new hires and cross?functional personnel.
    • Maintain compliance with all safety standards, ESD protocols, and quality management requirements.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical school certificate in electronics, mechatronics, or related field strongly preferred.
    • 5–8+ years of experience in electromechanical assembly, system integration, or related technical roles.
    • Expert ability to read and interpret complex schematics, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
    • Strong proficiency with advanced assembly tools including torque equipment, soldering tools, crimping systems, precision measuring devices, and diagnostic instruments.
    • Deep understanding of electrical concepts (AC/DC systems, grounding, EMI/RFI, shielding, circuitry) and mechanical principles.
    • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex assembly, wiring, or system integration issues independently.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and technical reporting.
    • Ability to lead by example, provide mentorship, and support team?level training.
    • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work extended periods in a production environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, or other relevant certifications.
    • Experience in regulated or high reliability industries (aerospace, medical device, defense, robotics, etc.).
    • Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (Fishbone, 5 Whys, Pareto, etc.).
    • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) or prototype builds.
    • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, digital travelers, or electronic work instruction platforms.

    Work Environment

    • Fast paced production and assembly environment with exposure to electronics, machinery, and precision tools.
    • Required adherence to PPE, ESD controls, safety procedures, and manufacturing quality standards.
    • Collaboration with engineering, quality, materials, and production teams.

    You should be proficient in:

    • Soldering
    • Electrical Wiring
    • Electromechanical Assembly
    • Mechanical Assembly
    • Mechatronics
    • Harness Assembly
