Electromechanical Assemblers

PGS Worldwide is seeking Electromechanical Assemblers in Orlando, FL for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. These positions will build, wire, and integrate rack and subassemblies such as power distribution boxes, control and communication panels, joysticks, chassis, and related electromechanical equipment. Openings are available for both intermediate and experienced assemblers performing mechanical assembly, electrical integration, wiring, soldering, crimping, inspection, and documentation.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience assembling electromechanical systems in aerospace, defense, industrial, automotive, or a similar manufacturing environment.
• Intermediate track: Experience with general assembly, mechanical assembly, and rack/subassembly work.
• Experienced track: 4–6 years of general assembly experience, including 2–4 years of mechanical assembly experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.
• Experience with crimping, soldering, wire stripping, cable routing, and connector installation.
• Experience using torque tools and performing torque-controlled assembly.
• Experience with IPC-A-610 and J-STD workmanship standards.
• Ability to perform functional and workmanship inspections.
• Strong teamwork, communication, attendance, and safety practices.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methods such as 6S or Kaizen.

Preferred Skills

• Aerospace, defense, or high-end optics manufacturing experience.
• Completed IPC/WHMA-A-620 training or current IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification with demonstrated Class 3 workmanship.
• Current J-STD-001 certification.
• Associate’s degree.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Experience identifying opportunities to reduce waste, improve cycle time, and enhance ergonomic safety.

What You’ll Do

• Build and wire power distribution load boxes, control and communication panels, joysticks, racks, and related electromechanical assemblies.
• Install LEDs, push buttons, switches, handles, fasteners, and other mechanical and electrical components.
• Route, dress, strip, crimp, and terminate wires and cables.
• Install wiring harnesses, connectors, power distribution boards, and solid-state relay modules.
• Route cables in accordance with applicable EMC guidelines.
• Perform mechanical joining using threaded fasteners, rivets, adhesives, and torque-controlled tightening.
• Assemble chassis, optical modules, cooling fans, structural frames, and related hardware.
• Perform functional and workmanship inspections throughout the assembly process.
• Document assembly and inspection results in work orders using an MRP system.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on quality, waste reduction, cycle time, and workplace safety.

Pay

• Intermediate track: $15.00–$25.00 per hour
• Experienced track: $24.00 per hour
