A day in the life

You clock in, review the day’s build sheet, and lay out parts for a new switchgear unit. With blueprint in hand, you assemble precisely, torque-checking fasteners and verifying fits. A minor discrepancy? You diagnose it, make the repair, and document the fix. Throughout the shift you keep your station neat, follow standard work, and flag any potential risks to product quality or safety. Before handoff, you complete final checks so the unit meets specifications and is ready for test. Safety meetings, collaborating with teammates, and continuous improvement ideas are all part of your routine.

What you’ll do

  • Assemble switchgear units per blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot and repair identified discrepancies on switchgear assemblies.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and participate in all safety meetings.
  • Follow standard work to protect quality; escalate risks to product integrity.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Contribute to other related tasks as needed.

How you work

  • Open to coaching and receptive to feedback.
  • Dependable, punctual, and focused on meeting commitments.
  • Self-directed with the drive to juggle multiple priorities successfully.
  • Continuous-improvement mindset—always seeking better ways to get results.
  • Adaptable to new ideas, technology, processes, and product changes.
  • Customer-centric actions and decisions.
  • High integrity and sound, ethical judgment.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and reliable in completing tasks.
  • Collaborative across teams and departments.
  • Committed to following manufacturing policies and ISO-compliant practices.

Your background

  • High School Diploma (required).
  • 0–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with switchgear is a plus.
  • Comfortable reading a tape measure, including fractiondecimal and metricimperial conversions.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic working knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
  • Safety training certificates are an asset.
  • Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.

Work environment

  • Safety-sensitive role in a temperature-controlled manufacturing/industrial setting with occasional outdoor tasks.
  • PPE required: safety shoes, hard hats or bump caps, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as needed; respirators when required.
  • Comfortable working from step ladders and A-frame ladders.
  • Work at heights up to approximately 20 feet using proper lift and fall protection equipment.

Physical demands

  • Maintain balance and agility when walking, standing, crouching, and using stairs or step ladders.
  • Bend at the waist and knees; reach and extend arms/hands in any direction.
  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Frequently use upper extremities, including overhead work and full arm extension.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hand and power tools.
