Job Title: Electromechanical Technician

Job Description

Join a Prototype & Build team as an Electromechanical Technician, where you support the development, testing, and validation of advanced energy storage products. In this hands-on role, you build and maintain electrical test infrastructure that enables safe and reliable evaluation of PCBAs, battery cells, modules, and system-level hardware. You work primarily in a lab environment, applying your experience in control panel wiring, harness fabrication, and PCBA assembly to help bring innovative energy storage solutions from concept to reality.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire industrial control panels in accordance with UL508A standards.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and mechanical drawings to guide assembly and troubleshooting work.
  • Fabricate complex wire harnesses and cable assemblies to support prototypes, test fixtures, and system integration activities.
  • Perform precise crimping, routing, labeling, and continuity verification on wiring and harnesses to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Assemble, rework, and repair PCBAs, including through-hole and surface-mount components, following best practices for electronics manufacturing.
  • Execute fine-pitch SMD hand-soldering and hot-air rework, using microscopes and specialized rework tools for inspection and quality control.
  • Support prototype bring-up and troubleshooting in close collaboration with electrical engineers, test engineers, and product engineers.
  • Construct and maintain electrical test fixtures, load boxes, wiring assemblies, and custom hardware used to characterize and validate battery cells, modules, and electronic subsystems.
  • Install instrumentation, sensors, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and safety interlocks as needed to support test and validation activities.
  • Assist test engineers and product engineers in setting up and executing electrical tests, ensuring proper configuration and safe operation.
  • Assemble, organize, and inspect test infrastructure electrical subassemblies and integrated test systems to confirm build quality and readiness.
  • Use and maintain electrical build tooling in a shared workspace, ensuring tools remain calibrated, safe, and available for team use.
  • Commission and troubleshoot completed test infrastructure systems, confirming initial mechanical and electrical functionality, including validation using sensor readings in collaboration with commissioning and engineering teams.
  • Document findings, test results, and performance metrics to provide traceability and support continuous improvement of test infrastructure.
  • Offer recommendations to keep technical documentation, schematics, and build records up to date and aligned with current designs and standards.
  • Apply safe work practices when working with high voltage systems, test equipment, and industrial control panels.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as an engineering technician, electrical technician, panel builder, or in a similar electromechanical role.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical wiring, cable harness fabrication, and industrial control panel assembly.
  • 2+ years of experience in soldering (surface-mount and through-hole), PCBA assembly, and electronic repair work.
  • Strong proficiency in electrical wiring techniques, including crimping, routing, labeling, and continuity verification.
  • Demonstrated skill in fine-pitch SMD hand-soldering and hot-air rework, using microscopes and appropriate rework tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and mechanical drawings accurately.
  • Experience working with industrial control panels or UL508A-compliant builds.
  • Familiarity with standard electrical tools, test equipment, and safety practices, including digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, power supplies, and related lab equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic assemblies and control systems.
  • Comfort working around high voltage systems with a strong focus on safety and adherence to established procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience assembling and maintaining electrical test fixtures, load boxes, and custom hardware for prototype and validation work.
  • Background in electronics assembly, including PCB work, component replacement, and rework of complex boards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, including electrical, test, and product engineers, in a fast-paced prototype environment.
  • Experience documenting test results, build configurations, and performance metrics to support traceability and quality assurance.
  • Skill in identifying issues in control panels, harnesses, and test systems and providing clear, actionable feedback for bug reporting and design improvements.
  • Familiarity with energy storage systems, battery modules, and electronic subsystems used in modern power and storage applications.
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing and lab environment where temperature conditions can be similar to outdoors.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple build and test tasks simultaneously.

Why Work Here?

You join a mission-driven organization focused on building a 100% renewable energy future for people around the world. The culture emphasizes inclusivity, collaboration, and diversity, creating an environment where different perspectives are valued and everyone can contribute meaningfully to groundbreaking energy storage solutions.
