The Electromechanical Technician performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of electrical distribution systems. Mechanical skills are a must, including light fabrication and welding. This individual must demonstrate strong safety commitment by applying a working knowledge of electrical codes, Lock-out procedures, and arc flash protection.

The ideal candidate is a team player with a high school diploma or GED, at least three years of combined training and experience as an industrial electrician or in electrical work, have light fabrication and welding skills as well as good written/verbal communication and customer service skills, and the physical ability to perform the requirements of the job. Basic Microsoft Office knowledge and/or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the functions of construction, installation, modification, maintenance, and repairs of electrical appliances, apparatus, systems, facilities, and related electronic controls and devices by interpreting blueprints, manufacturers specifications, and written and verbal instructions.
  • Assist in the establishment of preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and facilities.
  • Perform inspections of electrical components, instruments, meters, indicators, and gauges in order to detect abnormal fluctuations, and locate defective components in systems, using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
  • Plan layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical controls.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure control documentation is current; follow all necessary change control procedures.
  • Test, maintain, and evaluate equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, data monitoring equipment, thermal imagers, and megohmmeters.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, and provide report of results to management.
  • Comply with all documentation requirements regarding processing, GMP safety, housekeeping, environmental, and sanitation.
  • Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of combined training and experience as an industrial electrician or in electrical work, light fabrication and welding experience.
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in repairing building and parking lot lighting systems.
  • Three (3) years of experience in single and three-phase power up to 480 VAC.
  • Three (3) years of mechanical experience including light fabrication and welding.
  • Ability to follow an electrical schematic and construct a motor control panel.
  • Ability to measure, cut, and run conduit up to 2 inches.
  • Proficient in trouble-shooting defects in electric motors and motor control panels.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain electrical heat trace systems.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazard and safety precautions for Arc Flash and electrical power.
  • Ability to use, maintain and possess required hand tools necessary to perform task assigned.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the electrical measuring equipment and the necessary safety precautions.
  • Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s).
