Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electronic Component Project Engineer to support legacy electronics systems engineering in a full-time, in-office capacity. This role is responsible for executing component and system-level sustainment, obsolescence mitigation, engineering change management, and validation activities for mature electronic products.
 
Working under the direction of an Engineering Manager or Project Lead, the Project Engineer will support technical projects related to product sustainment, component lifecycle management, engineering changes, and validation support, while collaborating closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
 
Responsibilities
  • Project Execution & Technical Leadership
  • Execute assigned legacy sustainment and obsolescence mitigation projects aligned with approved engineering plans.
  • Own technical deliverables for assigned components or design families, including analysis, documentation, and technical reviews.
  • Support project schedules by completing assigned tasks on time and proactively escalating risks or blockers.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Component Sustainment & Obsolescence Management
  • Identify and assess risks related to component end-of-life (EOL), supplier discontinuations, and long lead-time parts.
  • Support mitigation strategies including last-time buys, alternate component identification, and redesign efforts.
  • Maintain and update component sustainment plans and lifecycle status using engineering systems and tools.
  • Design Control & Engineering Governance
  • Execute engineering tasks under established design control processes, including documentation updates and technical reviews.
  • Support supplier changes, design control transfers, and engineering ownership transitions.
  • Prepare technical evidence to support design decisions, deviations, and change approvals.
  • Ensure engineering outputs meet required documentation and compliance standards.
  • Validation & Technical Analysis
  • Support component and system validation activities, including:
  • EMC testing
  • Vibration testing
  • Environmental testing
  • Functional validation
  • Coordinate with internal and external laboratories to execute validation plans and gather results.
  • Analyze test data and summarize findings to support sustainment or replacement decisions.
  • Utilize standard engineering tools and validation equipment as needed.
  • Participate in NPI (New Product Introduction) review meetings and provide validation updates and test results to stakeholders.
 
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
 
 
Required Skills

  • Knowledge of component obsolescence management and product sustainment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Understanding of electronic systems and hardware platforms.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting legacy electronic hardware platforms.
  • Knowledge of electronic control modules, telematics systems, and display hardware.
  • Familiarity with validation testing and laboratory coordination.
  • Experience with engineering change management, BOM updates, and lifecycle sustainment.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $42.00- $45.00/hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
