What do we need:

We are seeking an Electronic Controls Technician who can support a wide variety of systems and equipment across our complex. The individual should be a self-driven and motivated individual willing to work independently or as part of a team.

  

What’s special about this team:

Our Maintenance Department is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the facilities and manufacturing equipment at our Ada complex for our valued customers. The Maintenance team is comprised of more than 100 highly qualified Skilled Trades employees.  As an Electronic Control Technician on the team, your focus will be on installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing electrical systems, devices and components applicable to manufacturing and facilities related equipment which requires broad knowledge of electrical principles and PLC controls.

 

What’s special about this role:

 You will have numerous responsibilities – calibrating and installing equipment, performing preventative maintenance on equipment, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment, and working with PLCs and PLC control applications.  This will include working on card key access systems, security systems, gas detection systems, fire suppression systems, automation and utility equipment.  In addition, this role will be responsible for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual testing and performance reviews per NFPA-72 requirements on different equipment.  The Technician will also work with and/or partner with maintenance personnel (including HVAC Mechanics, Electricians, and Apprentices) on troubleshooting issues, installing systems and handling upgrades, as well as overseeing outside contractors and vendors.

 

This position will require flexibility for possible Monday through Saturday scheduling, with the department determining which days will comprise the 40 hour work week based upon production and scheduling demands.   This role may require scheduled and unscheduled overtime.  Based on your effort and training, you will have a chance to advance your knowledge and skills, and partner with peers and customers to ensure manufacturing and facility related equipment is performing at a high level.  There may be some limited travel with the role – 10% or less.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Journeyman Electrician’s license through the State of Michigan
  • State of Michigan Driver’s license
  • High School diploma and 3 years of experience performing maintenance work on manufacturing or facilities equipment.  5 to 8 years of experience as an Electrician is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and PLC control applications
  • Experience in instrument calibration, motor/circuit analysis, Honeywell alarm systems and scale calibration is desired.
  • NICET certification is a plus

 

Skills to be successful in the role:

  • A willingness to maintain and advance skill level through personal effort and training.
  • Strong attention to detail/safety and a high level of accuracy.
  • A background or experience with other Skilled Trades is a plus.
  • Familiar with NFPA 72 and/or NFPA 101 Code Requirements
