Class Definition

Duties/Job Responsibilities:

To record court proceedings in all four counties; to label, control, and store records; prepare and maintain a proceeding log; perform minor maintenance on recording equipment and correct minor malfunctions; maintain accurate files and recorded work-in-progress/work completed; provide play-back of the record in open court as may be requested by the judicial officer; have the ability to prepare verbatim transcripts or copies of audio files upon request and any and all other related duties as may be assigned by the Administrator or his/her designee.

Required Experience:

Graduation from an accredited high school with courses in typing and/or data processing; college degree a plus; a thorough knowledge of punctuation, grammar and spelling; knowledge of digital electronic sound recording equipment; ability to operate and monitor equipment; and strong organizational skills. Must be reliable, detail oriented, able to multitask, operate independently and manage time for production of ordered transcript or copies of audio files. Experience with electronic audio and/or video recording equipment preferred or any combination of the above education and experience.
