The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Electronic Security Engineer - Department of Defense. The Electronic Security Engineer provides design and technical support for access control, intrusion detection, and video management systems on facility projects. Responsibilities include device layouts and risers, network and server architecture inputs, integration with related Industrial Control System environments while maintaining required separation and reliability, submittal reviews, field surveys, acceptance testing support, and as-built and O&M inputs. This role supports a Department of Defense mission and collaborates with senior engineers, project managers, and field teams to deliver code-compliant, reliable systems.
Required Experience & Skills
- Five (5) years of experience in electronic systems or information technology with demonstrated experience in electronic security systems.
- Demonstrated experience designing or integrating enterprise access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems, including servers, workstations, storage, and network components.
- Knowledge of applicable criteria and standards such as UL 294, UL 1076, NFPA 731, NFPA 70, IBC/IFC, and relevant UFGS sections for ESS.
- Ability to prepare device schedules, risers, one-line diagrams, point lists, and integration interfaces, and to produce as-built updates and O&M inputs.
- Experience supporting factory tests, site tests, integrated system tests, and final acceptance.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity touchpoints for ESS platforms and interfaces to other control systems, in coordination with cybersecurity teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with stakeholders and preparation of technical deliverables.
- Ability to travel to active project sites, including secure facilities.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Manufacturer certifications on common ESS platforms for access control, VMS, and intrusion detection.
- Commissioning support experience and familiarity with three-phase inspections and QC coordination.
- Prior experience on federal task order contracts for facility modernization or control systems programs.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited university or college.
Preferred Education
- Progress toward PE licensure or relevant professional credentials.
Clearance
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Travel
- Minimum 25% to job sites CONUS and OCONUS as required by task orders.
