SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Build and perform tests on electronics, electrical systems, and components to determine operability. Performs a variety of maintenance activities in addition to electro-mechanical duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning circuits and wiring.
  • Utilize testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, ammeters, watt meters, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning machinery and equipment.
  • Install and activate new equipment.
  • General maintenance activities which may involve hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, steam and electrical.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
  • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
  • Maintain production schedules.
  • Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
  • Other duties may be assigned later.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education required/ preferred:
  • Minimum 2-year tech degree preferred or equivalent PLC programming experience.

Experience:
  • PLC programming required.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
  • Sound decision making skills.
  • Good math, reading, writing skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Mental and visual acuity for production of quality product.
  • Strong trouble shooting skills.

Skills/Competencies:
  • Basic computer skills - Microsoft Office package.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Other Skills: Ability to work well in a team environment.

Assessment:  Employee must pass Pre-employment screening:
  • Required PPE:
    • Safety glasses.
    • Hearing protection in certain areas.
    • ANSI Z41 Safety Shoes.
    • Kevlar gloves in certain areas.
  • Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, carrying, stooping, bending, reaching & lifting are done on a frequent basis. Climbing, lifting overhead, pushing, pulling & grasping are performed on an occasional basis.
  • Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
  • Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
