Job Summary

The University of Kentucky Transportation Services team is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Electronic Technician I to support the daily operation, maintenance, and administration of parking and revenue-control systems.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze LPR and parking data to identify trends, patterns, irregularities, and potential violations or discrepancies.
  • Review parking applications and information across multiple systems to investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Enter, update, verify, and maintain accurate records using internal and external systems.
  • Test new parking technologies and equipment, identify issues, and assist with establishing best practices for implementation and end-user support.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and first-level troubleshooting on parking access, revenue-control, and related equipment.
  • Monitor parking and revenue-control systems remotely and respond to equipment alerts, malfunctions, and operational issues.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and system issues, determine potential causes, take appropriate corrective action, and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Support the reliable and continuous operation of parking access, gate, payment, and revenue-control systems.
  • Collect, count, verify, deposit, and reconcile revenue from Automatic Pay Stations and parking meters in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of cash collections, deposits, reconciliations, equipment activity, and other operational records.
  • Follow University cash-handling, security, internal-control, parking, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Provide professional and responsive customer service to students, faculty, staff and visitors to the University.
  • Communicate parking policies, procedures, violations, technology, and applicable requirements clearly and professionally.
  • Educate and assist users with parking procedures, technology, access systems, and applicable requirements.
  • Identify potential operational concerns and proactively work with appropriate personnel to develop and implement solutions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of parking systems, technology, equipment, procedures, policies, and departmental responsibilities.
  • Perform additional duties, special assignments, and operational support activities as needed.

  • Experience working with technology systems, hardware, software applications, or automated equipment.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends, discrepancies, irregularities, and potential problems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and system issues and determine when problems should be resolved independently or escalated.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records across multiple systems.
  • Ability to learn, test, and effectively use new technology and equipment.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and securely while maintaining appropriate financial controls and confidentiality.
