Performs advanced technical work in the installation, maintenance and modification of electrical, electronic and electromechanical systems and/or equipment. Much of the work is diagnostic, and involves the use of specialized instruments, and may be performed under emergency conditions.

Installation

• Installs, inspects and repairs mobile radios, mobile vehicle recorders and mobile data devices
• Facilitate in the repair and installation of equipment in emergency vehicles.

Bench Repairs

• Repairs electronic devices with the aid of specialized tools such as a multi meter, watt meter and soldering iron
• Calibrate electronic devices with the aid of specialized instruments such as a oscilloscope, channel analyzer and spectrum analyzer

System Maintenance

• Maintain Sedgwick County's 800 MHz radio system through monitoring, diagnosing and repairing radio equipment

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Four years' experience in installation, inspection and maintenance of electrical and electronics circuits, or equivalent of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Valid State of Kansas Driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications: Certificate from a trade school specializing in electronics preferred.
