Job Summary
The Electronic Technician Trainee is responsible for supporting the maintenance, repair, testing, and operational readiness of electronic and electromechanical equipment to meet operational delivery demands. This role focuses on improving equipment reliability, minimizing maintenance-related downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a maintenance base environment.
Job Description
- Perform maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment
- Maintain assigned equipment in accordance with maintenance programs and reliability-centered maintenance strategies
- Use diagnostic and measuring tools such as: Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Calipers, Basic hand tools
- Assemble and build components, including bearing packs and related assemblies
- Conduct equipment testing, including flow loop testing and basic programming activities
- Record maintenance activities, materials, labor, parts usage, and equipment history within computerized maintenance management systems
- Support equipment turnaround efficiency and production targets
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve maintenance efficiency
- Assist with failure investigations and corrective action efforts
- Rotate through assigned workstation areas as needed
- Follow all maintenance procedures, safety standards, and operational requirements
- Support repair-and-reuse initiatives and other cost-saving projects
- Shift: 1st Shift 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM, overtime expected (extended hours beyond 5 PM and weekend work)
Skills Required
- Basic understanding of electronics and mechanical systems
- Ability to use diagnostic and measurement equipment effectively
- Strong computer skills and ability to navigate business systems
- Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented maintenance environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with rotary steerable systems or similar oilfield equipment
- Soldering experience
- ISO certifications related to electronics or soldering are a plus
Education
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- OR Associate degree or 2-year technical degree in Electronics Technology
- OR Military maintenance experience
Additional requirements
- Industrial shop and maintenance base environment
- Exposure to: Oil, Grease, Mud, Field-returned equipment
- This is not a laboratory or clean-room environment
- Required use of coveralls and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Pay rate
- $23.50 - $27 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
