Electronic Assembler 2nd Shift
The Panther Group | Austin, TX | Temp-to-HireThe Panther Group is seeking experienced Electronic Assemblers to join a leading defense and electronics manufacturing organization in Austin, Texas. This is a hands-on manufacturing opportunity for someone with experience assembling electronic and electromechanical components, wiring and soldering, building harnesses and cable assemblies, and working from engineering drawings and schematics.
This is a 4-day, 10-hour evening shift with potential for long-term employment.
What You'll Do
As an Electronic Assembler, you will work on electronic, electrical, and mechanical assemblies and subassemblies used in advanced technology systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Assemble electronic components, assemblies, subassemblies, and modules using samples, visual aids, engineering drawings, wiring lists, diagrams, routing instructions, and process sheets.
- Read and follow engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions.
- Perform electronic and mechanical assembly operations, including:
- Wire termination
- Wire harness installation
- Cable assembly
- Soldering
- Crimping
- Torqueing components
- Assemble, disassemble, and modify production subassemblies according to established work plans.
- Work with electronic and electrical assemblies such as circuit boards, modules, connector panels, and related components.
- Use hand tools and precision equipment to complete assembly work.
- Inspect completed assemblies to ensure they meet specifications and applicable J-STD and IPC-610 quality standards.
- Work with Quality Control to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Partner with Engineering and other teams to troubleshoot technical issues and improve processes.
- Support both production and prototype projects.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow established manufacturing and safety procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma, GED, or trade school education.
- 2+ years of related experience preferred.
- Electronic assembly or manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with small-device assembly, wiring, soldering, harnesses, and cabling.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, blueprints, specifications, and technical instructions.
- Experience using hand tools and various crimping tools.
- Experience working with a microscope.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to focus on repetitive, precision-oriented work.
- Understanding of basic electronic components such as:
- Resistors
- Capacitors
- Inductors
- Diodes
- Transistors
- Relays
- Transformers
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability and willingness to obtain required solder, ESD, and material-handling certifications.
Preferred Experience
- Electronic or electromechanical assembly experience.
- Advanced soldering and electrical/electronic assembly experience.
- Experience building detailed assemblies to engineering and quality specifications.
- Prior experience working in a regulated electronics manufacturing environment.
- Experience with IPC-610 and J-STD standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally bend, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and components as required.
- Comfortable performing detailed, hands-on work for extended periods.
