Position: Electronics Engineer PCB Design & Embedded Firmware Location: Avon, CT Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site Department: Engineering Reports to: Head of Product & Engineering
What You'll Do
Design and change PCBs for new and existing products, from schematic capture and layout through simulation and validation
Develop embedded firmware in C and C++ (and Assembly where needed) for microcontrollers and microprocessors, for both stand-alone and IIoT/cloud-connected products
Make sure new designs integrate cleanly with our elevator phones, video, texting, load sensing, and other safety products
Build prototypes and production runs using pick-and-place, laser cutting, CNC, and other in-house equipment
Design hardware and firmware that meets ASME A17.1, UL, ADA, FCC, and cybersecurity requirements
Apply secure design practices to build reliable products for demanding elevator environments
Work closely with electrical, software, and materials engineers on integrated solutions
Troubleshoot customer technical issues and support products in the field
Use generative AI tools to speed up schematic design, firmware development, simulation, and testing
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Mechatronics/Robotics Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field
At least three years designing and releasing commercial electronics, ideally sensors, telecommunications, audio, or industrial controls
Experience with PCB design tools
Experience programming in C/C++
Experience on microcontroller platforms such as STM32, PIC, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi, etc.
Knowledge of analog and digital electronics, power management, signal integrity, and communication interfaces (UART, I2C, Ethernet, cellular)
Clear writing and comfort explaining a circuit to people who are not engineers
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or training in mechanical engineering and metallurgy
Assembly language programming
Elevator, life-safety, or ADA communication products.
Telephone-line interfaces, speakerphones, or two-way audio.
Load cells, strain gauges, or rope-tension measurement.
Experience in a small manufacturing company rather than a large aerospace staff.
Customer support or field applications engineering experience
Experience with sensors, video integration, or voice systems
