We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Electronics Recycling Technician to support the dismantling and processing of electronic equipment in a warehouse environment. This position is responsible for disassembling computers, servers, and other electronic devices while properly sorting materials for recycling, protecting sensitive data, and maintaining an organized work area. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable using hand and power tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dismantle desktop computers, laptops, servers, and other electronic equipment using hand and power tools.
- Separate and sort materials into designated containers, including motherboards, processors (CPUs), RAM, power supplies, hard drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs), metal, plastic, cables, and other electronic components.
- Identify and remove all HDDs and SSDs from electronic equipment before further processing.
- Operate hard drive shredding equipment in accordance with company procedures to ensure secure data destruction.
- Operate a baler to compact recyclable materials such as circuit boards and cardboard.
- Properly label pallets, containers, and material bins to maintain accurate material identification and inventory.
- Assist with loading and unloading electronic equipment and recyclable materials from trucks.
- Follow company procedures to ensure all data-bearing devices are handled securely throughout the dismantling process.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Travel to customer locations as needed to assist with loading electronic equipment and materials into company trucks for transportation.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools, including drills and screwdrivers.
- Ability to identify common electronic components such as hard drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs), motherboards, processors (CPUs), RAM, power supplies, and other internal computer parts.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and move electronic equipment throughout the workday.
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willingness to travel for customer projects as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience dismantling computers, servers, or other electronic equipment.
- Experience in electronics recycling, manufacturing, warehouse operations, or IT asset disposition (ITAD).
- Experience operating material handling equipment, balers, or similar industrial equipment is a plus.
- Forklift certification or experience is a plus.
