Job Title: Electronics Technician

Job Description

This onsite Electronics Technician role is a hands-on lab position supporting the testing and development of automotive electronic components in a fast-paced engineering and test environment. You will build and modify prototypes, operate test equipment, and perform validation testing while working closely with engineering teams to ensure high-quality, reliable electronic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build and modify electronic prototypes, test fixtures, and wiring and harness assemblies to support product development and validation.
  • Set up and operate test equipment, test stands, and environmental chambers to execute planned test activities.
  • Execute validation testing by following detailed work instructions and accurately capturing test data and results.
  • Troubleshoot electronic components and assemblies, identifying issues and supporting engineering teams in root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Perform through-hole and PCB-level soldering and rework as needed to repair or modify electronic assemblies.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to guide assembly, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Use basic electronic test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies, to verify performance and diagnose issues.
  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components using appropriate hand tools, ensuring proper fit, function, and quality.
  • Document test procedures, observations, and results clearly and accurately in Excel or similar tools, following established documentation requirements.
  • Maintain lab equipment in good working order, coordinating calibration and routine maintenance as required.
  • Manage lab inventory of components, tools, and test materials to ensure availability and organization.
  • Support continuous improvement of lab processes and test setups by suggesting and implementing enhancements to fixtures, harnesses, and test methods.

Essential Skills

  • Wire harness assembly experience, including crimping, stripping, and routing wires.
  • Hands-on soldering experience, including through-hole and PCB-level repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience working with basic electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools to assemble mechanical and electrical components.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow test procedures and meet documentation requirements.
  • Associate's Degree in electronics or a related technical field.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience in electronics, as a technician, or in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a lab, manufacturing, or test environment, with automotive experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SMT rework and component-level troubleshooting.
  • Experience in building or modifying test fixtures or wiring harnesses.
  • Comfort documenting test results and maintaining records in Excel or similar software tools.

Work Environment

This role is fully onsite in a dedicated engineering and test laboratory focused on automotive electronic components. You will work in a fast-paced environment that combines electronic and mechanical assembly, functional testing, and validation activities. The lab is equipped with test stands, environmental chambers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and standard hand tools used for electronics and mechanical assembly. Work typically involves standing at benches, using tools and test equipment, and handling small components throughout the day. Collaboration with engineers and other technicians is frequent, and clear documentation and communication are expected as part of daily work.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
