Job Title: Electronics Technician IV
Job Description
The Electronics Technician IV serves as a senior-level Designer/Drafter supporting a service engineering design group in an onsite service center environment. This role focuses on creating, revising, and managing detailed drawings, models, parts, and assemblies using Creo, while ensuring full compliance with established engineering and documentation standards. The position requires deep technical expertise, strong independence, and precision, with all work controlled through the Windchill Data Management System for documentation control, workflow management, and status reporting to leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Create, revise, and maintain detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for parts, assemblies, and packaging solutions using Creo.
  • Develop electromechanical and PCB packaging designs, with a particular focus on sheet-metal enclosures and related structures.
  • Ensure all design outputs comply with established engineering, safety, and documentation standards and procedures.
  • Manage engineering documentation and configurations within Windchill, including version control, document status, and release processes.
  • Interpret engineering specifications, tolerances, and standards to produce accurate and manufacturable designs.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain technical drawings and documentation to support engineering change processes and compliance requirements.
  • Support engineering change documentation by creating, revising, and organizing drawings and models in alignment with change-control workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering leadership and team members to clarify design requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Handle multiple design tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining high accuracy and meeting required turnaround times.
  • Provide clear status updates and documentation to leadership through established workflow and reporting mechanisms.
  • Apply a safety-first mindset in all design activities, ensuring that designs support safe operation of mission-critical electronic and electromechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and refine designs based on feedback, test results, or field performance to improve reliability and serviceability of equipment.
Essential Skills
  • 8-10 years (with screening up to 15 years) of relevant experience in drafting and design roles, with demonstrated progression from Drafter to Designer.
  • Strong proficiency using Creo for creating drawings, models, assemblies, and packaging solutions.
  • Hands-on experience managing engineering documentation and configurations within Windchill.
  • Proven ability to interpret engineering specifications, tolerances, and standards for precise and compliant designs.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Onsite availability in Bloomfield, CT for a fully onsite role.
  • Strong technical depth in CAD, electronics, PCB design, and assembly-focused engineering work.
  • Ability to create, interpret, and update technical drawings and documentation to support engineering change processes.
  • High level of independence, attention to detail, and precision in design and documentation work.
  • Minimum education of a high school diploma with technical school training or equivalent work experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical training is preferred.
  • Prior experience in service engineering, industrial equipment, or regulated environments.
  • Strong PC literacy and organizational skills to manage multiple files, versions, and documentation workflows.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills for working within cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience with electromechanical and PCB packaging design, especially involving sheet-metal enclosures.
  • Familiarity with engineering change documentation, compliance processes, and configuration management.
  • Demonstrated safety-first mindset aligned with strict engineering and operational standards.
  • Sustained professional experience in senior technician or designer roles beyond internships, reflecting advanced responsibility and autonomy.
Work Environment
The role is fully onsite in a service-center and engineering setting, where you work closely with engineering leadership and technical teams. The position is CAD-intensive, with extensive daily use of Creo for modeling and drafting and Windchill for structured documentation, configuration, and change-control processes. You operate as an individual contributor with clear accountability for design quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of work. The environment emphasizes safety, disciplined engineering practices, and adherence to formal documentation standards, while providing exposure to mission-critical electronics and modernization projects for a large installed base of equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.
