Soldering Technician

Position Overview

Actalent is seeking a detail-oriented Soldering Technician to support the assembly and production of high-quality printed circuit boards (PCBs). This role involves precision soldering of surface-mount and through-hole components, working with microscopes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on SMT experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble electronic components and PCBs in accordance with drawings, specifications, and processes
• Perform precision soldering of SMT and through-hole components (down to 0402 size)
• Apply solder paste for surface-mounted components and support reflow processes (if applicable)
• Inspect work to ensure compliance with quality and manufacturing standards
• Maintain accurate production and work logs on a daily basis
• Read and interpret assembly instructions, prints, and electrical schematics
• Collaborate closely with Quality Control, Manufacturing, Materials, Engineering, and Test teams to ensure clear communication and efficient production
• Identify various electronic components and technologies used in digital, analog, and RF boards

Required Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement)
• Proven experience in SMT soldering and electronic assembly
• Ability to solder using a microscope with high precision
• Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and QMS
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to sit for extended periods in a production environment

Preferred Qualifications

• CIS (Certified IPC Specialist) - J-STD-001 certification
• Experience with wire bonding
• Experience operating reflow ovens and applying solder paste
• Additional experience with PCB assembly processes and inspection techniques

Additional Requirements

• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Must be able to successfully pass a background screening

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manassas, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
