Job Goal:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in elementary visual arts and computer science aligned to district and state standards.
- Design engaging lessons that promote creativity, innovation, collaboration, and critical thinking.
- Teach foundational art concepts including drawing, painting, design, art history, and creative expression.
- Teach foundational computer science concepts including digital citizenship, computational thinking, coding, problem-solving, and responsible technology use.
- Create inclusive classroom environments that support diverse learners and encourage student participation.
- Assess student learning and use data to guide instructional decisions and provide feedback.
- Maintain organized, safe, and engaging learning environments for both art and technology instruction.
- Manage materials, equipment, supplies, and technology resources effectively.
- Travel regularly between two assigned school sites according to the established waterfall schedule.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, instructional staff, and administrators to support interdisciplinary learning and student success.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, learning goals, and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and district initiatives related to instructional improvement.
- Support school-wide programs, events, and exhibitions that celebrate student learning and creativity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by building or district administration.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of elementary instructional practices and child development.
- Knowledge of visual arts curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Knowledge of computer science education, coding platforms, and digital learning tools appropriate for elementary students.
- Ability to integrate creativity and technology across content areas.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability in working across multiple school settings.
- Ability to manage scheduling and transitions between campuses efficiently.
Contract: One hundred eighty one (181) contract days / temporary contract.
Salary: District scale.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Site Principal in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policies and state law.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education, art, computer science, and/or early childhood.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with elementary, art, computer science and/or early childhood endorsements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
