Position Summary:

Were seeking a creative, passionate, and student-centered Elementary Art Teacher to join our team. Our ideal candidate is someone who believes that every child is an artist and understands the important role visual arts play in developing creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-expression.

In this role, you will provide standards-aligned visual arts instruction to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. You will design engaging lessons that introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, media, cultures, and historical influences while fostering creativity and artistic confidence.

A strong working knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Fine Arts - Visual Arts (Grades K-5) is essential to ensure instruction aligns with state standards and supports student growth. You will also play an active role in promoting school culture through collaboration, student showcases, and campus events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, TEKS-aligned visual arts lessons for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

  • Teach foundational and advanced art concepts, including drawing, painting, mixed media, design, color theory, composition, and craftsmanship.

  • Introduce students to a diverse range of artists, artistic styles, cultures, and art history.

  • Foster creativity, imagination, self-expression, and artistic confidence through hands-on learning experiences.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring classroom that promotes creativity and responsible use of materials.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, developmental, and artistic needs of all learners.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and campus leadership to support student success.

  • Assess student progress through projects, observations, and performance-based assessments while providing meaningful feedback.

  • Organize and display student artwork throughout the campus and coordinate school-wide art exhibitions or showcases.

  • Participate in campus events, professional development, fine arts initiatives, and school-wide activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree.

  • Strong knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Visual Arts (Grades K-5).

  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate instructional practices.

  • Excellent classroom management, organization, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated passion for inspiring creativity and helping students develop artistic skills and confidence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field.

  • Texas teaching certification in Art (EC-12 preferred but not required).

  • Experience teaching elementary visual arts with demonstrated success in fostering student engagement and creativity.

  • Experience organizing student art shows, exhibitions, or community art projects.

  • Familiarity with integrating technology into visual arts instruction.
