St. Joseph Public Schools is seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a resource room setting. This position focuses on developing students' academic, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional skills to promote success in both specialized and general education environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct, individualized, and small-group instruction aligned to students' IEP goals, using research-based and evidence-based practices specific to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), serving as case manager and ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
Design, adapt, and differentiate curriculum and instruction to address students' academic, behavioral, sensory, social-emotional, and functional needs
Implement positive behavior intervention plans and classroom management strategies; collect and analyze data to monitor progress and inform instruction
Assess student performance using formal and informal measures to guide instructional decisions and IEP development
Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families to support inclusion, accommodations, and overall student success
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, needs, and programming
Utilize adaptive and instructional technology to enhance student engagement and learning
Support students in developing independence, including transitions, routines, self-help, and functional life skills
Supervise, train, and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress monitoring, compliance records, and Medicaid billing requirements
Create and maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
