PROGRAM LOCATION: Missituk Elementary School
Nature and Scope
Medford Public Schools seeks a highly organized and collaborative Program Director to lead the Summer 2026 Elementary English Learner (EL) Enrichment Program serving students currently in grades K5.
The Program Director will oversee all aspects of program coordination and daily operations, working closely with the EL Director to ensure a smooth, well-organized, and engaging summer experience for students and staff.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate overall program planning and implementation
- Manage student registration, enrollment tracking, and family communication
- Develop and maintain the master schedule for staff and students
- Coordinate staffing logistics and daily operations
- Order instructional materials and supplies
- Oversee classroom space preparation and program setup
- Plan and coordinate field trips, including obtaining quotes, securing transportation, managing vendor communication, preparing permission slips, and ensuring compliance with district procedures
- Supervise and coordinate both morning academic programming and afternoon recreational programming
- Ensure adherence to district summer school procedures and safety protocols
- Serve as point person for day-to-day problem solving and operational needs
- Collaborate regularly with the EL Director regarding planning, budget, and program adjustments
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Massachusetts Teaching License
- Experience working with English Learners
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
- Experience coordinating programs, events, or school-based initiatives
- Strong communication skills with families, staff, vendors, and administrators
Rate and Hours
At minimum, the Program Director will work the core instructional schedule of the summer program:
Monday, June 29, 2026 Thursday, July 23, 2026
(16 days; 8 hours per day; 128 program hours)
- Morning Academic Session:
8:15 a.m. 12:15 p.m.
- Afternoon Recreational Session (Medford Recreation Pool and structured activities):
12:15 p.m. 4:15 p.m.
Additional hours beyond the daily program schedule will be required for pre-program planning, registration, scheduling, logistics coordination, materials ordering, field trip planning, and post-program wrap-up. The total number of additional planning hours will be determined in collaboration with the EL Director based on program needs.
Compensation is pending Title III grant funding.
