POSITION: Elementary Instrumental Music Teacher

(Potentially a Traveling position)

LOCATION: Romulus Elementary Schools

START DATE: 2026-2027 School Year

REPORTS TO: Building Principal(s)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with K-5 All Subjects endorsement; and a Music (JX or JQ) endorsement.
• Awareness of the physical, social, emotional and mental development of the learner
• Proficient and knowledgeable in the subject area
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents and staff
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Knowledge of data and how it is used to inform instruction
• Proficient with technology as an instructional tool.
• RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide instrumental music instruction to elementary students in small group and/or full ensemble settings.
• Introduce and develop foundational skills in rhythm, tone production, music literacy, and performance.
• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons aligned with district and state music standards.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Organize and direct student performances, concerts, and school/community events.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student learning and school initiatives.
• Maintain and manage music equipment, instruments, and instructional materials.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and program expectations.
• Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities as assigned.
• This position is required to travel between buildings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
