POSITION: Elementary Instrumental Music Teacher
(Potentially a Traveling position)
LOCATION: Romulus Elementary Schools
START DATE: 2026-2027 School Year
REPORTS TO: Building Principal(s)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with K-5 All Subjects endorsement; and a Music (JX or JQ) endorsement.
- Awareness of the physical, social, emotional and mental development of the learner
- Proficient and knowledgeable in the subject area
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents and staff
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of data and how it is used to inform instruction
- Proficient with technology as an instructional tool.
- RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide instrumental music instruction to elementary students in small group and/or full ensemble settings.
- Introduce and develop foundational skills in rhythm, tone production, music literacy, and performance.
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons aligned with district and state music standards.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Organize and direct student performances, concerts, and school/community events.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student learning and school initiatives.
- Maintain and manage music equipment, instruments, and instructional materials.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and program expectations.
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities as assigned.
- This position is required to travel between buildings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
