Position Details

Portland Public Schools: Elementary Long Term Substitute Teacher

Portland Public Schools seeks innovative and passionate education substitutes to join our elementary team to work as a long term substitute at Oakwood Elementary. This assignment would be from late August for 12 weeks in a DK classroom. Daily stipend of $220 for certified substitute or $180 for non certified substitute

The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:

  • Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning practices
  • Exceptional communication, analysis, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Understanding of PBIS and MTSS initiatives
  • Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment, common sense, and a calm demeanor
  • Impeccable character, a good sense of humor, and compassion for elementary school students, families, and staff

Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Michigan Teacher's Certificate or Substitute Permit.
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and assess student learning
  • Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and district colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to sustain and improve student achievement outcomes
  • Willingness to contribute to a safe school climate of high expectations and strong collaboration, high staff and student morale, and positive community involvement

  • Calendar: As per District Calendar
  • Compensation: In accordance with agreement between Portland Public Schools and PCMI willSub.
