Position Details

Qualifications:

  • Must possess current Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate
  • Master's degree in Math (preferred)
  • Possess a working knowledge of effective, research-based intervention

programs, models and strategies in elementary Math

  • Display a strong knowledge of elementary Math standards
  • Possess strong, positive leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff in the school
  • Utilize data and technology to plan and facilitate intervention review teams with

teacher teams

  • ESL Endorsement or experience working with English Learners (preferred)

Job Goal:

Provide expertise in the area of mathematics to our students,

teachers, paraprofessionals and families.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct services to students identified for services in the area of

mathematics instruction.

  • Provide resources and training to school staff on evidence-based mathematics

research and practices.

  • Provide instructional coaching support (ex: co-teacher, model, demonstrate,

observe, and provide feedback) to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals

on using best practices in the area of mathematics.

  • Provide support for the implementation of the core mathematics programs and

approaches selected by the district that support the State Standards in

Mathematics.

  • Assist teachers and paraprofessionals with instructional interventions.
  • Act as a catalyst for building a school learning community that focuses on

integrated learning, and building connections across grades.

  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials while providing individualized

and small group instruction to ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of

each student.

  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that ensure a positive

learning atmosphere in the classroom.

  • Evaluate and prepare reports on student academic and social progress, while

keeping appropriate records to effectively document these assessments

  • Effectively communicate with parents during parent/teacher conferences and

any other appropriate time when needed or desired.

  • Ensure professional growth by actively participating in professional

development activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional

growth activities.

  • Select and requisition books and instructional materials when

needed. Maintain required inventory records.

  • Supervise students within and outside of the classroom during the assigned

working day.

  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing

policies/procedures.

  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Assist with extra-curricular activities as needed.
