Position Details
Qualifications:
- Must possess current Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate
- Master's degree in Math (preferred)
- Possess a working knowledge of effective, research-based intervention
programs, models and strategies in elementary Math
- Display a strong knowledge of elementary Math standards
- Possess strong, positive leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with other staff in the school
- Utilize data and technology to plan and facilitate intervention review teams with
teacher teams
- ESL Endorsement or experience working with English Learners (preferred)
Job Goal:
Provide expertise in the area of mathematics to our students,
teachers, paraprofessionals and families.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide direct services to students identified for services in the area of
mathematics instruction.
- Provide resources and training to school staff on evidence-based mathematics
research and practices.
- Provide instructional coaching support (ex: co-teacher, model, demonstrate,
observe, and provide feedback) to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals
on using best practices in the area of mathematics.
- Provide support for the implementation of the core mathematics programs and
approaches selected by the district that support the State Standards in
Mathematics.
- Assist teachers and paraprofessionals with instructional interventions.
- Act as a catalyst for building a school learning community that focuses on
integrated learning, and building connections across grades.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials while providing individualized
and small group instruction to ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of
each student.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that ensure a positive
learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluate and prepare reports on student academic and social progress, while
keeping appropriate records to effectively document these assessments
- Effectively communicate with parents during parent/teacher conferences and
any other appropriate time when needed or desired.
- Ensure professional growth by actively participating in professional
development activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional
growth activities.
- Select and requisition books and instructional materials when
needed. Maintain required inventory records.
- Supervise students within and outside of the classroom during the assigned
working day.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing
policies/procedures.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Assist with extra-curricular activities as needed.
