Primary Purpose:
To facilitate the design and delivery of mathematics and science curriculum and instruction to maximize student learning at Elementary Campuses.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required
Advanced degree preferred
A valid Texas teacher's certificate or such other credentials as may be required by the
State Board for Educator Certification for this position
Three (3) or more years of teaching experience in elementary and/or middle school mathematics and science
Campus leadership experience
Extensive knowledge of the content and methodology for teaching mathematics and science
Ability to work effectively with principals, teachers, students and community
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, collaborate with and respond to feedback from multiple supervisors.
Ability to share proven instructional approaches with teachers and administrators and interpersonal skills to provide feedback and coaching
Ability to conduct staff development and/or mentor teachers
Ability to develop curriculum activities and TEKS-based assessments in collaboration with the Elementary Mathematics and Elementary Science Coordinators
Experience in facilitating the planning and application of emerging technologies in the classroom
Strong organizational skills, strategic planning skills and efficiency in meeting deadlines
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
In order to assist the assigned Elementary campuses, the Elementary Math & Science Instructional Coach will:
- Support improvement efforts with the Elementary Mathematics and Elementary Science Coordinators through activities such as collaborating in the development and articulation of continuous improvement and ensure continuous renewal of curriculum, policies and methods.
- Analyze district, campus and student achievement through state and local data with the Elementary Mathematics and Elementary Science Coordinators to guide instruction and examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for assigned subject areas.
- Provide research and content knowledge to staff about learning and teaching mathematics and science.
- Promote the improvement of instruction through activities such as assisting teachers in designing learning experiences for students.
- Participates in curriculum writing as directed by the Elementary Mathematics and Elementary Science Coordinators.
- Provide instructional leadership for the implementation of math and science curriculum.
- Provide model teaching at the campus level when appropriate and requested by the Elementary Mathematics and Elementary Science Coordinators, Executive Director, or campus administration.
- Design and provide professional development during department meetings, PLCs, or with individual coaching in conjunction with district, campus, or individual needs in collaboration with the Elementary Mathematics and Elementary Science Coordinators.
- Provide direct instruction to students as assigned by the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.
- Maintain the confidentiality of schools, teachers and classrooms.
- Obtain prior approval from the Elementary Mathematics or Elementary Science Coordinator before distributing written communications and other media.
- Demonstrate coaching skills at the campus level.
- Participate in a minimum of 12 (twelve) hours FLEX time of professional development and inquiry into his/her own practice.
- Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs in assigned subject areas.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies. All other duties assigned.
- Complete classroom observations as directed by the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning using district provided walkthrough protocols.

Computer, copier, document camera, iPad, classroom mobility applications, other specialized equipment that is particularly unique to the coaching assignment
Working Conditions:
Climbing, stooping, bending, and kneeling; ability to lift 25 pounds to waist high, frequent use of small hand tools and electronic equipment; travel as necessary. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, sitting, and keyboarding.
