Elementary Music Teacher

LOCATION: Wilkshire Early Childhood Center

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid K-12 Michigan Teaching Certificate (JX endorsement).
• Vocal and Early Childhood Music pedagogical skills necessary.
• Ability to work cooperatively with part of a school team.
• Genuine desire to work with elementary students.
• Effective communication skills.
• Appropriate technological background to integrate with instruction.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The Music teacher will develop and implement a supportive classroom culture using our robust Orff Schulwerk-informed curriculum, based on state and national standards, which makes learning music fun, which inspires children to create music that they feel proud of, and develop a love of music. Haslett teachers practice flexibility, openness, and keen observation to fully engage students and support their joy of learning. We believe that this approach honors different learning styles and life experiences.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engagement with diversity, equity, and inclusivity work.
• Commitment to reflective practices and professional growth.
• Work with elementary students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
• Facilitate elementary student performances for parents and community members.
