Elementary Music Teacher

This is a 1.0 FTE Elementary Music Teacher position serving students in grades K-4 at Edgelea Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will provide engaging and developmentally appropriate music instruction that fosters creativity, musical literacy, performance skills, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Indiana teaching license in Music Education covering grades K-4. Consideration may also be given to candidates who are currently enrolled in an approved Transition to Teaching program in Music Education and possess the prerequisite skills and qualifications necessary for successful classroom instruction.

The Lafayette School Corporation is seeking a passionate, energetic, and student-centered educator to serve as a K-4 Elementary Music Teacher at Edgelea Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will create engaging musical experiences through singing, movement, rhythm, instrumental instruction, performance opportunities, and music appreciation. Position Description

The Elementary Music Teacher provides a comprehensive music education program for students in grades K-4. Through engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction, the teacher introduces students to foundational musical concepts while fostering creativity, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

The ideal candidate will:

• Inspire students through active music-making and performance.
• Create a classroom environment where every child feels successful and valued.
• Help students develop musical literacy, rhythm, melody, listening skills, and performance techniques.
• Integrate movement, technology, and creative expression into instruction.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain appropriate Indiana licensure.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold:

• A valid Indiana teaching license in Music Education covering grades K-4.
