Elementary Physical Education Teacher (PK-3)

Description

The Brookwood School District is seeking an energetic, student-centered Elementary Physical Education Teacher to join our team starting with the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students develop fundamental motor skills, physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong appreciation for healthy and active living.

This position serves students in PK-3 and includes opportunities to collaborate with staff in supporting the physical, social, and emotional growth of all learners. The successful candidate will also collaborate with district staff to support students requiring adaptive physical education services across grade levels. Coaching and extracurricular opportunities may also be available within the district.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students in PK-3.

• Organize and create learning experiences that support skill acquisition in:

• Motor skills and movement patterns

• Personal fitness and wellness

• Responsible personal and social behavior

• Cooperation, teamwork, and sportsmanship

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students requiring specially designed or adaptive physical education services.

• Collaborate with district physical education staff and special education teams to support adaptive physical education programming and student services.

• Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to students and families.

• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.

• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student success.

• Promote healthy lifestyle habits and encourage students to develop lifelong wellness practices.

• Participate in school improvement initiatives and professional collaboration activities.

Qualifications

Required:

• Valid Wisconsin DPI License in Physical Education (1530), or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• Valid Wisconsin DPI License in Adaptive Physical Education (1860), or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Preferred:

• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Previous elementary physical education experience.
• Coaching experience or interest in extracurricular involvement.
